Who's behind those Tinted Windows?

When I first heard that there was going to be a power pop supergroup featuring James Iha from Smashing Pumpkins, Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne, Taylor Hanson of Hanson and Bun E Carlos from Cheap Trick I laughed, hard. That's a good one. That could never happen. It would be amazing and I would love to hear that, but come on...wait, what? It's true?! Yes, the band is Tinted Windows and you can listen to their first single, "Kind Of A Girl" right now (click on the player below), you can see them live at SXSW in March, and the record comes out in April. I love the line-up, I love the band name and I can't wait for the album. I'm going to see them at SXSW and the single below is a great sign of things to come. There is musical hope on the horizon of '09 and it's going to be a cool ride.

Jake Dilley & The Color Pharmacy

Jake Dilley & The Color PharmacyThe Fine Line music club in Minneapolis has never sounded so good or had such a cool looking show, thanks to Jake Dilley & The Color Pharmacy. They are on right now, just finishing up there set and I couldn't wait to post about this amazing live show. Each member is wearing a white hazmat style suit with video projected onto it...a different video showing on each member. The music is a great mix of psychedelic alt-pop with lots of great instrumentation included xylophone, keys, accordion and more. They're better live than their recordings but from what I've heard of their next record that will catch up soon. In the meantime see them live! A key element is multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Karin Haase. Her voice blends beautifully with Jake's and she's an amazing singer. She's finishing up a new album now and they played one of the songs and it was a highlight of the show. She's definitely and artist to watch.
