Hurricane Katrina: UPDATED AND URGENT!

Situation Update: It's even worse than I had previously mentioned. We haven't been shown the worst of it by the networks and the TV news. There are now thousands presumed dead. I have just been given a link to a new CNN article that brings the reality of the devistion and the seriousness of the problem into focus.

Here's another article that talks about the anarchy and chaos:

I don’t want to appear to be jumping on a “Cause” bandwagon, and what you do with your money is your own business, but the magnitude of devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina across multiple states is far worse than anyone could have imagined. People from that area have told me that the images we are seeing on TV don’t even come close to conveying how bad it really is.

These are the facts so far, and things are getting worse every hour…

  • Over 500,000 people are now homeless because of the storm
  • Over 5 million people are without power
  • There’s only one hospital that’s open in the entire New Orleans area
  • Thousands are presumed dead and even more injured and/or stranded
  • There are thousands of people without food or shelter.
  • This is the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history

The two best ways to help these people are to pray and to send money.

Giving money to a reliable and trustworthy organization that is actively devoting the majority of its time and resources to the relief effort is one of the quickest and most effective ways that you can help. Every dollar counts, so no amount is too small.

There are not many organizations that I would openly trust to use money wisely, but these are two of the best… Please help the relief efforts now. Click on the links below and give what you money you can, and pray for those who are struggling and in need.
